WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, OR FRIDAY?

(Students Corner)

By Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, March 1995

As anyone knows who has followed the “shenanigans” of the Alexandrian Cult since 1880—the days of Westcott and Hort—educated graduates of Christian colleges, universities, and seminaries never cease, both in public and private, to attack the text of the Authorized Version. Usually this is done by referring to a spook house “Greek original,” or as one hypocrite put it (Froese, Midnight Call Ministries, Int.), “the available original.” Chapter Seven in The Christian’s Handbook of Biblical Scholarship (1988) goes into great detail about these professional liars who infest every Christian institution of higher education, every school in America and Europe.

However, another more subtle way of destroying the text of the King James Bible lies in simple convincing the student that it doesn’t exactly mean what it says; it means what some Alexandrian in the Scholars’ Union thinks it means, or at least what it ought to mean. Examples of this are “legion.”

Here are five excellent samples which are “standard” among most apostate Fundamentalists. “If Jesus is not Lord of all, He is not Lord at all.” “Men are saved under Grace in the New Testament exactly as they were saved under the Law in the Old Testament.” “Hell is separation from God, not real fire.” “There is only one Devil, but many demons,” “It was a gate called the Needle’s Eye, not a real needle, etc.” You could fill a book with this kind of rambling, infidelic, stupid nonsense.

But “GOOD FRIDAY” is the outstanding mark of the real Bible-rejecting Fundamentalist who uses the Authorized Version without believing it. Christ’s “three days and three nights,” in Matthew 12:40, are converted into two nights and one day and a half: one Friday night, one Saturday night, one day Saturday, and half a day Friday. This has been the official, “historic position” of the Roman Catholic Church since the days of Augustine. It is based on infidelity and stupidity (as usual, when dealing with Catholics).

Take a typical apostate like John MacArthur (and here, his “counselor,” Doug McMasters, is doing his dirty work for him); here is his “stand” on Jonah’s three days and three nights (Matt. 12:40).

“The phrase ‘three days and three nights’ does NOT necessarily refer to three twenty-four hour days.” (Oh, I can just here old Brokey—Dr. Brokenshire at BJU, back in 1951—saying “Mr. Ruckman! We do not have to necessarily believe that God has actual books written out in heaven, by which to judge people!”)

Then for proof, Johnny’s “Grace-to-You-Radio” says that the reason for dumping the King James text, literally, is as follows: a citation by the Jerusalem Talmud, a citation by Augustine, a citation by Ignatius, a citation by Justin Martyr, a citation by Josephus, a citation by the Didache, and one by Leon Morris.

This is a Christian’s Scriptural proof for rejecting the truth that Jesus Christ was in “the heart of the earth” all night Wednesday, all night Thursday, all night Saturday, all day Thursday, all day Friday, and all day Saturday.
